The Ania was inspired by the success of the Apheta 2 and Aphelion MC cartridges. Using the same exceptionally complex hand wound micro coil found in the rest of the range, the Ania is housed in a unique PPS highly rigid body, ensuring accurate construction and Rega’s three point fixing method ensuring optimum connection to the headshell and automatic setting for overhang. The new body is protected by a CAD designed, clear rigid cover to protect the internal fine wires, making handling whilst fitting, safe and risk free.The Ania features a super high-powered, neodymium magnet and a coil meticulously hand wound on to an iron cross. This miniature assembly allows us greater freedom to track the vinyl groove ensuring even more detail is extracted from the vinyl.

All of these features combine to deliver a balanced and dynamic performance that will engage you with your vinyl like never before.The Ania is the perfect partner for the Planar 3, Planar 6 or Planar 8 turntables.

Rega’s Moving Coil cartridge design is unique in its approach to achieving an ultra-low mass generator which is undamped (no tie wire) using a unique rhomboid pivot for the cantilever powered by a purpose designed, exclusive to Rega, Neodymium magnet system. This type of design requires a zero-tolerance engineered cartridge body which is Rega’s area of expertise and with the Apheta 3 and Aphelion 2 products these bodies are machined from one piece of the highest quality aluminium. This is a difficult and expensive process requiring all of Rega’s years of experience to achieve. In particular, the “zero” tolerancing of the body is required in the alignment and dimension of the pivot pad mounting hole and the magnet mechanism mounting hole relationship.

The Rega Ania is not your ordinary high-end MC phono cartridge. It represents the end-goal of an ambitious quest by a proudly British company with more than four decades of analog experience – namely, to create an entry-level MC cartridge stunningly close to the performance of its flagship Aphelion and Apheta 2 models. Available for less than half the cost of the latter, Ania benefits from Rega’s complete overhaul of its cartridge-manufacturing facilities as well as the nearly 10 years it invested in developing Aphelion and Apheta 2. Hand-built in England with precision, reliability, and cutting-edge expertise, and offering musical playback defined by richness, elegance, effortlessness, and front-to-back dynamics, Ania changes what’s possible in the world of sub-$1k phono cartridges.

Designed with the assistance of CAD technology, the Reag Ania features a body comprised of PPS-Forton – a sophisticated polymer-glass amalgam whose complex shape helps keeps strength high, mass low, and debilitating resonances to a minimum. The tie-wire-less Ania also boasts a floating iron cross generator, hand-wound to the cantilever’s inner tip with ultra-high-purity copper wire. Ania’s iron cross is actually half as small as that of the original Apheta and one of the lightest generators in the industry. Along with the powerful neodymium magnet, many of Ania’s parts actually come straight from Apheta 2. An elliptical stylus and CAD-designed plastic case complete a musical instrument that invites you to see right into the heart of its performance – offering a clarity on par with the transparency of its sound.
